The Comedy Club

E-mail Print

It’s an American invasion. Start off the New Year with the comic genius of Paul Ogata, the master in the dark arts of comedy, Mike G, a crowd favourite and highly rated young comic, Malaysian Kavin Jay with hip-hop artist Reefa as a celebrity host. Welcome 2011 with a megadose of laughter.

Comic’s Bio
Paul Ogatany

In October of 2007, Paul Ogata won the prestigious San Francisco International Comedy Competition, joining the pantheon of comedy greats, including Dana Carvey, Doug Stanhope, Jake Johannsen and Sinbad.

Paul has appeared on CBS’ “The Late Late Show” and in the Damon Wayans movie, “Behind The Smile” and “Porndogs” with Ron Jeremy and Paul Rodriguez.

Paul’s act has garnered rave reviews across the globe, as he headlines shows from Tokyo to Times Square, from Hollywood to Hong Kong. The South China Morning Post says, “Paul’s cherubic grin belies a wicked funny streak.” Midweek Magazine says “Ogata delivers with machine-gun speed and precision, spraying the room with non-stop laughs!” But you’ll probably say, “How did this guy win that thing in San Francisco? And what the heck is a ‘pantheon’?”

Mike G
American stand-up comedian, Mike G, has established himself as a unique and refreshing young talent in the few short years he has been plying his comedy wares in Australia and abroad.

Having traveled extensively in Australia and performed in venues including the Comic’s Lounge in Melbourne to the Brass Monkey in Perth, Mike G has built up a diverse and original style of stand up which has resulted in regular headline/feature spots in Perth –his home away from home. Mike G is also a regular MC in all the major comedy venues in Perth and has performed in gigs as diverse as hosting rock concerts at universities to corporate functions for jaded CEOs and titans of industry.

Competing against seasoned pros and first timers alike, Mike G won the WA state championship of national comedy competition Green Faces in 2005 which culminated in a spot at the National Finals in Canberra.

Kavin Jay
Has been voted the grumpiest comedian in Malaysia today for his love/hate relationship with his life, love and country. He complains about everything, so that you don’t have to. Known in the underground scenes and open mic spots, he has since performed with international acts such as Dave Callan (Ire), Pierre Hollins (UK), Vir Das (IND) James Moffet (Aus), Chris Wainhouse (Aus), Rob Brown (AUS) and Steven Grant (UK) and countless Malaysian stand-up comics.

His personality will never land him in TV or Radio, far from being politically correct; his intense sense of humor has tickled ribs and charmed audiences of many denominations. His inappropriateness ranges from mild to terrifying but you will leave you wanting more. He has been invited to perform In KL and Singapore for The Comedy Club Asia (Sept. and Jan.) and The Comedy Club KL (Dec. and Feb.).
