Qua Chee

QuaChee may be a name that many in Sabah are yet to be familiar with, but don’t let that stop you from taking a closer look that what he is all about.

Author, model, blogger and informed traveller, QuaChee is also the publisher of two books; “Batik Inspirations” and more recently, “50+1”, which showcases must-try/see/do things in Malaysia from a Malaysian’s point of view.

An inspired and animated read, “50+1” is a labour of love geared towards either first time visitors keen to get beyond predictable tourist traps for a real feel of this country, or Malaysians wishing to know more about their very own backyards.

Fans of QuaChee may also be interested to note that he is currently one of the Top 10 finalists for a competition from Singapore based magazine 'Men's Health', aptly titled "Are You Men's Health Enough".

L&S: Travel is clearly a passion of yours. Where would you want to be right now and why?
QC:Krabi. I love it because of its wide sea view, that it’s not too overcrowded and its beautiful boutique hotels.
And the best thing - sipping on coconuts while watching the sunset.

L&S: What is your favourite source of inspiration for your work?
QC: My goals & dreams. While there are lots of obstacles & hurdles, these usually see us through.

L&S: If a first-time visitor to Malaysia absolutely had to try one particular (food) dish, what would you recommend?
QC: Nasi lemak. It’s our no. 1 dish - throughout the day!
A close 2nd & 3rd would be roti canai & teh tarik.

L&S: What trait do you most value in friends?
QC: Sincerity.

L&S: What would you like others to know about you?
QC: Usually of my big ambitions - I find them inspiring. And my aim is to work with international stars in the media & entertainment industry.

L&S: A destination on your must-visit list?
QC: This is tough as I have quite a few. But if it's really just one - I'd say Japan. I admire the country for its beauty, and how they preserve their culture and yet they are able to be so modern.
If I may add, I'd love to visit NY & LA - for NY as an international city and LA, mainly for Hollywood.

L&S: How do you spend your time out of the office?
QC: Usually at the movies or gym. Movies are really something I enjoy lots – it helps relax the mind in many ways, and opens up new ideas by seeing another 'world' which I may not have experienced yet.

L&S: You could not live without :
QC: The internet. My life & work revolves around it. Of course, family and close friends are treasured lots too.

L&S: If you could have a super power for a day it would be:
QC: To complete all current & future tasks in that one day. That will leave the rest of the days free for holidays! Haha.

L&S: What is your motto?
QC: Dream big. It will come true.
