On the eve of KL Fashion Week, Samsara Jaya Sanjay has unexpectedly passed away. His pageant business partner and personal assistant Serenity Billion announces in the funeral cum fashion show that The Annual Malaysian Girls pageant will mostly be cancelled. As the girls of the pageant pack up their bags to pursue careers as beauty promoters, Formula 1 umbrella girls, and politicians' aides, Samsara's brother, the testosterone-packed Dato Ray Sanjay and his manipulative (read bitchy) PA come to the pageant’s rescue. The pageant divides into two camps: one too stubborn to change, and the other, easily spotted in FHM-inspired fashion. The girls and their mentors scheme and connive, gossip and backstab, and of course, 'catwalk-fight' to the death, all in the guise of the glitz and glamour of the Malaysian Girls pageant. Malaysian Girls is about the beautiful world we live in. It is about the friendship between Malaysian girls, and how this fragile friendship can be more beautiful than the crown one aspires to wear. So put on your tiaras, pucker up that smile, and brace yourself, for really, with 14 beautiful girls on a glitzy stage, how ugly can it get? Presented by the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) and The Actors Studio, Malaysian Girls will run from 11 to 26 December 2011 at klpac’s Pentas 1. |
