The HSBC Classics music festival achieved a significant milestone in 2010 with the hugely successful HSBC Classics Chopin dan lain lain in conjunction with the 200th anniversary of the famed composer. For the first time ever, every single concert during the festival was sold out and oversubscribed. It was a testament to the popularity of the series as well as the festival programming for the year. This year, one area that particularly deserves some spotlight has been chosen – Opera. The HSBC Classics Opera Extravaganza 2011 promises to be a stunning festival showcasing the two top names in the local operatic circle. Opera performances are hard to come by in Malaysia but there is a steady appreciation for the art form. After the positive feedback from the inclusion of a vocal segment in the HSBC Classics Chopin dan lain lain in 2010, the team has decided to dedicate this year’s festival to the most extraordinary instrument of all – the human voice. This year’s festival also retains its strong educational focus with three exciting workshops and masterclasses – one for string ensembles, one for vocal and one for violin teachers which is another first for HSBC Classics. The past workshops have all been catering for music students and not teachers. Presenter: klpac & HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad Related Features on LifeAndStyle.com.my: |
