Epicure Malaysia 2011

Epicure Malaysia, the nation’s leading lifestyle fair, was officiated recently by YBhg Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad Ismail, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, at the Sime Darby Convention Centre in Bukit Kiara.

The fair which ran from September 16th to 18th, featured over 150 product and service exhibits and more than 70 lifestyle workshops, all related to lifestyle and living the ‘good life’.

Organising Chairman Dato’ Steve Day in his opening speech thanked everyone present and YBhg Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad was invited on stage to launch the event, and at the press of a button revealed a chef’s hat and apron. The Mayor was then dressed up as a chef with the help of Organising Chairman YBhg Dato Steve Day, and demonstrated his skills as a competent chef by cooking up six dishes on stage, to the delight of VIPs present.

Among those who witnessed Tan Sri’s cooking demonstration were YAM Tunku Laxamana Negeri Sembilan Tunku Naquiyuddin Ibnni Tuanku Ja’afar, YAM Tunku Dara Tunku Tan Sri Naquiah Ibni Tuanku Ja’afar, YAM Tunku Dato’ Seri Shahabuddin, YBhg Dato’ Seri Azim Zabidi and Puan Sri Christine Khir Johari.

Also present were Maxis’ Navinder Wathan, Vicomte and Vicountess de Chezelles, Dato’ and Datin Kok Wee Kiat, Deputy Head of Mission Rashid Al Mulla from Qatar Embassy and Puan Sri Norhayati Hashim, wife of the Mayor.

Dozens of exhibits
A huge array of products and services awaited visitors, from the best known international gourmet foods and beverages, chocolate, cheeses, fine wines and spirits to imported meat, coffee and cigars; and from the very latest home decor, kitchen and household wares and appliances, to the leading names in property and healthcare.

Scores of Lifestyle Workshops
With in excess of 70 lifestyle workshops, the subject matter covered a comprehensive range of lifestyle-related subjects, each conducted by acknowledged experts in their field. The following examples demonstrate the wide subject scope:

“Finer Points On Protocol and Dining Etiquette” conducted by YAM Tunku Dara Tunku Tan Sri Naquiah Tuanku Ja'afar; “How Medical Qigong Heals” by Master Dr Tan Soo Kong D.So (.AM) Ph.D, from Wellness Medical Qigong Centre; Dr Siby from Ayur Centre explains “You Are What You Eat”; Prof. Joe Choo demonstrates “How To Use Feng Shui To Enrich Your Life”; “Recreational Scuba Diving in Malaysia” by Syed Abd. Rahman bin Syed Hassan Vice President of the Malaysia Scuba Diving Assc.; and Susan Kwok from Fragrant Blessings will present “Rediscover Passion”.
The overall workshop philosophy was to provide highly relevant, immediately useful information and advice – an insider view simply not available elsewhere.

Master Chef Cooking Classes

Master Chef Cooking Classes are a proven workshop highlight, and were conducted by many of the Malaysian International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) Master Chefs who are lined up for the MIGF 2011 event due to take place in October. Among them were MIGF veteran Chef Lam Hock Him from the Hilton Kuala Lumpur and Chef Eric Lee Mun Chun from Imperial Rama Genting Highlands, who carries numerous gold medals from winning competitions throughout Asia.
