Paradise comes to life at Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa, the first international deluxe resort on Boracay Island. The resort is dramatically situated on a hillside in a flourishing nature reserve located on the northern part of the island, 10 minutes’ drive from the colorful markets and bustle of popular White Beach.
Boracay’s pristine beaches of powder-soft sand and crystal waters are regularly named among the world’s best, in publications from National Geographic magazine to the BMW Tropical Beach Handbook. The island is a 45-minute flight south of Manila, with a 30-minute land-and-sea transfer between Caticlan airport and the resort.
The luxury of first-class facilities and conveniences goes beyond the resort and is extended to guests on their journey to the island. Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa has refined what used to be a tedious series of air, land and water transfers to an unrivaled experience of comfort and exclusivity.
Upon landing at the Caticlan Airport, the guest is at once received by a representative and escorted to the van and directly to a private lounge where refreshments and other welcome amenities await. At the exclusive jetty port area, guests are whisked off by Shangri-La’s speedboat where a mere fifteen minute cruise is all that stands between you and paradise. Guests will no longer have to endure a communal boat ride at a public pier, then wait at the main port area on the other side for a van to take them to their destination – the usual route taken by Boracay visitors.

Marrying luxury and comfort with a reverence for nature, the 12-hectare resort encompasses 219 rooms including 36 villas and suites; comprehensive leisure facilities; a secluded beach front; and a thriving ecosystem of diverse, even rare, flora and fauna.
Villas are butler-serviced retreats with private plunge pools, whirlpools or pergolas for al fresco dining. Eleven tree top villas have a fabulous view of the sea, the sunset and private Jacuzzis.
The resort’s varied dining options make it a favored destination for those who have a taste for fine food and drink. The seafood restaurant, Sirena, offers fresh favorites from a cliff top overlooking the sea while the Solana Sunset Bar is the hub of activity after dark, where guests can lounge in cabanas and mingle over cocktails. Rima, an intimate fine dining restaurant on a hilltop offering sweeping views of the ocean and forest, serves authentic northern Italian cuisine beneath the stars.
Guests looking to soothe their travel-weary senses will find their sanctuary in CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La. Located at the Northern tip of the resort, CHI features treatments based on ancient Chinese and Himalayan healing philosophies as well as ingredients and practices with local origins.
The resort is situated within a peaceful nature reserve with 75 species of plants on the ravines, cliffs and seashore. Local wildlife thrives in the resort, with 36 recorded species of birds and six species of bats in their natural habitat. Hundreds of bats take to the sky against the setting sun every afternoon at 5:30. This is the flight of the fruit bats from their roosting ground to the other side of the island, an experience unique to Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa.
The resort has recently been named into the Conde Nast Hot List 2010 and the Travel + Leisure IT List of 2010. More than a year since opening, Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa has established and continues to prove that it is indeed, a treasure find in the Philippines.
