These new-look boxes and bags have been designed to complement Loewe’s reputation for using the finest of leathers. The paper they are made from is textured to give a warm, leather-like feel, while its pale buff colour echoes ‘gold suede’, the material used in the making of the brand’s signature bag, the Amazona, since its launch in 1975. Finally, the method by which the glossy black logo is carved into the paper recalls stamped leather. |

Gary Card has used Loewe’s new boxes as building blocks to create a series of simple shapes: a giraffe, an aeroplane, a dinosaur, a car, a Christmas tree, a rocket and a robot. The pieces are deliberately naive, designed to elicit a nostalgia for the sort of toys you might have received as a young child at Christmas. |
