Bangsar, today is a much sought after hot bed for on-the-go beauty fixes as the choices of salons are aplenty. A brand new addition to Bangsar, Apronbay was opened late last year but it should not be mistaken for just another brow and waxing outlet. This new kid on the block has a lot to offer when it comes to its extensive list of services and treatment methods.

The salon is named after an important aviation term and its store design is modelled very much around an aircraft. Apronbay refers to the special area on an airport runway reserved for aircrafts to park, refuel and the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers. This quirky yet original name came from the founders who were previously attached with the airlines industry. One will find that everything within Apronbay aims to give nothing short of first class service.

Beginning with its five exquisitely themed rooms, customers receive an instant getaway ticket upon check in at Apronbay. The rooms are meant to provide customers with the opportunity to escape during their pampering session. One can choose to get lost in the metropolitan city of New York, slow down on life’s fast lane in an Oriental Suite, immerse in the blue waters and white sandy beaches of Seaside Loft, smell the roses in Country Garden and step back in time into the old world charm of Covent Garden.

My trip to Apronbay was greeted with a warm welcome from director, Ashley Loong. During the outlet tour, I couldn’t help but to feel like I was being teleported to different places upon entering each room. There were many little details to admire in each room from the life sized backgrounds to the decoration that gives each room so much depth.

I opted for a waxing service at Apronbay. My fair share of waxing experiences had made me very particular to procedures. I am pleased to report that at Apronbay, customers will first fill in a form to highlight if they have any special skin or sensitivity conditions - an important initial step ensures that therapists will learn about the customer’s needs and suggest the right wax for them.

As a waxing specialist, Apronbay pays special emphasis to the type of wax used. It offers four types of non-strip hot wax and two types of strip wax. The available range of wax enables Apronbay to cater to dry skin, hypersensitive skin, ingrown hair and stubborn, coarse hairs. All of the wax products are specially imported from France.

The therapist did her work meticulously. By covering only small spots each time using non-strip hot wax, which I learnt to be gentler on the skin, the procedure was also made less painful. The end result was also very satisfactory. Depending on the treatment, waxing procedures range from 20 to 45 minutes. For waxing, prices start from RM30. Apronbay has also recently added permanent hair reduction (IPL) for underarm and bikini areas, to its portfolio.

For brow design, customers can choose from waxing, threading and tweezing with prices starting from RM12. Apronbay also offers more beauty treatments like lash curling and colouring along with express, classic and spa nail manicure and pedicure where prices begin from RM30.
